Sak Yant - Traditional Thai Buddhist tattoo in Bangkok

Another kind of tattoo that one can obtain in Bangkok is a "Sak Yant" tattoo, or "Temple Tattoo"
in Soi Awn Nut 25 at "Wat Tong Nai Temple", ther is a "Ruesi" ( a kind of sage who practises Buddhist and Animist magic), called Ajarn Thoy Dabos. He recieves devotees every day (except for of Holy days) for Sak Yant tattoos and magick love charms, potions and miscellaneous parephernalia for aquiring love, riches, longevity and protection. A Sak Yant tattoo is basically a sacred "Yantra" - a geometrical design charged with ancient Buddhist prayers and magick spells

Studios galore in the Khao Sarn Road

The Khao Sarn Road in Bangkok, has over 30 tattoo studios offering their services to the throngs of semi hip travellers. The extremely high rent prices have lconsequently led the studios to also raise their prices up to a parallel with that of the Western world.

Some studios have opened factories and are manufacturing wholesale tattooing equipment on a massive scale easily compared to that of the piercing jewelry industry.
The massive influx from Chinese factories and their tattoo equipment production has made sales in Thailand's tattoo equipment wholesale businesses lose a lot of custom, nevertheless, the Thai tattooing machines and equipment are noticeably superior.

Luckily, the increasing popularity of getting tattooed, along with the increasing population of the world, has permitted the survival of the art despite the increase in the number of artists performing in the trade.

The Berlin International tattoo Convention 2007 is putting up an exposition on Traditional Thai Buddhist yantra tattooing - this will be the first time that Thai temple tattooing/Khmer Sanskrit tattooing will be on show in the west।
